Pathology

  • Arteries get deposits of cholesterol in the middle layer.
  • They get narrowed and rigid with time.
  • Flow of blood slows down.
  • Heart gets starved of oxygen and nutrients.
  • Sometimes the plaque ruptures & stops blood flow.

Symptoms

  • Angina or chest pain or chest heaviness.
  • Burning and squeezing pain which radiates to left arm or jaw.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Nausea, fatigue, sweating may be associated.

Investigation

  • Blood Test( Trop T, CPK-MB, Lipid Profile)
  • ECG
  • TMT
  • ECHO
  • CAG( Coronary angiography)

Treatment

  • PTCA and Stenting
  • CABG (By Pass Surgery)
